Anti-theft Alarm "Chirp"

Here's a strange one...

Anyone ever had issues with their alarm not beeping/chirping after the vehicle warms up?

As the days have gotten warmer, I've noticed many times when walking out to my 4Runner after work, I'll hit the button to unlock my truck, but no "chirp". This has only happened on warm days when the heat builds up within the interior over the course of the day... weird.

Thoughts?

MIne is sporadic but rarely chirps anymore and I can't tell that temperature has any effect on it.

Are you referring to the double "microwave" beeps on unlock? The piezo for the beeping is located on the driver side near the hood strut support mount between the inner and outer fender.

Yeah, it's the double-chirp "unlock" where I first noticed it wasn't making any noise. I'm not certain, but I want to say I tested the regular lock function with my remote and that didn't beep either.

I'm just confused on why heat would have this effect. It's never been a problem in cooler weather.

Is it pretty simply to swap out that "piezo" you mentioned? Any links to show location and/or how to remove/replace?

Thanks...

I don't see the attached picture on the last post in this thread, http://www.toyota-4runner.org/audio-...ock-beeps.html

Not sure if it's because I'm using IE8 or the pic is no longer saved on the forum. Maybe try PM'ing the poster.
