Smile UPDATE: Rattle, suspension related, I think..

THE BACKGROUND INFO:

So for the past couple of months I have been driving with a dead X-REAS shock and a wheel bearing that was going bad. Last week I dropped my truck off and had them put in regular shocks, a new CV shaft and boot and a new wheel bearing.

I picked the truck up today and as I was driving it I noticed a rattle. So I turned around and brought it back. I brought 3 separate mechanics out for drives and everyone could hear it and all agree its coming from the same area but no one could diagnosis the rattle. The X-REAS system is still in place and the mechanics made sure it wasn't one of the ends bouncing against the frame. I am dropping the truck off on Monday morning and they are going to comb through their work to find it but I was hoping for some possible ideas...

THE NOISE:

At any speed there is a rattle from the front passengers side. Going over bumps causes the noise to be louder. It sounds exactly like if you put a marble into a glass jar and rolled that jar around. (I even thought maybe the fog light fell into the glass housing and was rolling around) One mechanic described it as a washer fluttering loosely against metal.

WHAT WAS CHECKED:

All bolts and washers that connect to anything in that area
All glass housings and lights
Heat shields
Brass ends of the XREAS system
Caliper clips
Truck was put on a lift and parts were pulled, pushed, bumped and banged

DIAGNOSIS:

UPDATE: Cotter pin was loose and/or out and bouncing around on the hub. It was difficult to get the exact location since I picked it up after hours and the guy working the desk didn't work on my vehicle. Hopefully this helps anyone who may have this happen to them in the future!

Remove the skidplate and go for a spin... See what that does.
