I happen to be the computer tech for the dealership that I purchased my "runner" from. So i know all the guys in the shop and this is what I found out.
They said there is a TSB on the seats that involves cutting down the "fit pins". I did get to see a print out of the tsb and it described removing the seats and cutting these pins down to 2mm in length because they are making contact with the rail. The thing is this TSB is reffering to the "creaking", and doesn't specifically mention "popping/clicking" but maybe thats all symantics.. i dont know, until i let them try.
I am scheduled to go in next week to have it done. I will be sure to get the TSB number and post it.
Thanks Tonedog, let us know if that TSB does anything. If it does make a difference, next time I bring mine in I will have them do whatever the TSB says.
If you could, do you think you could provide me with a copy of the service bulletin? I am getting the screw job from toyota on this, and I just cant stomach it.
Srry guys, I haven't had a chance to get over to the dealer to have my seat done. I was originally gonna wait to see if it worked 1st, but I will call over there and get the tsb tomorrow and post it for everyone.
In my last post I had heard about another TSB and was going to get back to all with it.
When in fact there was no other TSB, just a mix up that ended up with me having two copies of the same tsb that pertained to the cutting off of the studs that has been discussed a ton in the forums.
The "studs" fix is not the solution.....
I did it and it didnt resolve the problem.
After a back and forth with the owner of the dealership I was able to get them to change out the seat completely leather and all.
This is where it gets kinda of weird.....
Everything was wonderful for about a month and just when I had started to forget about it and get myself to stop listening for noises.....
I heard a couple of creak/pop noises, exactly the same as my orignal seat but very faint and definately not as loud.
Then as quick as it came they went and I havent heard anything for a few months now.
So for now I am a happy customer but what really is the issue with the seat, your guess is as good as mine.
My personal feeling is that there is a close relationship with people sitting in the back seat putting pressure on the drivers seat with their knees.
If I had to guess I would say a weld from the factory is not strong enough, beaks loose and makes noise when the seat is flexed by tapping on what ever it was supposed to be welded to.

Nope. I have no rear seat passengers and I have the click.
