Angry Transmission shift @ overdrive

05 V6 4X4 SR5
I have taken our 4R in to the dealer twice now for a wierd hard shift into 5th gear when either normal driving from 35 to 50 and when going up hill I will manual shift down to 4th to keep trans from shifting back and forth or lugging until cresting the hill and then shift back into 4D which then causes a jolt or hard shift into 5th. This only happens on occasion but is getting more frequant.
But when bringing it into the dealer they never can reporduce the problem so they keep giving us the "we need to see it happen before we can do anything per Toyota warrenty" It's done it since new and we now have 5k on it. Anybody else have this issue and what can we do about it? Can I force Toyota to put a new trans and chip in?

Sounds like a problem....See if your serice manager will ride with you instead of them driving it.
My transmission is very smooth; never shifts hard like you described. If it downshifts for a hill, it will usually stay in the lower gear until the truck clears the hill and not shift back and forth.

They finally had it happen to them while they were driving it.
There going to have the Toyota Rep. to come up and take a
look and tell them how to proceed. They mentioned possibly replacing the trans. ?
At least they know now that I'm not imagining it. They are being very good about it. They kept it for 2 days before it acted up on them.

Meaning the oil change guy has been using your vehicle to run errands, stop by the nursery and the dry cleaners and maybe even partied in it during the NCAA championship.
