Looking for a mechanic in Los Angeles
I'm starting my search for a gen 3 4runner and was wondering if there are any indi mechanics in the area that are reasonable in price and know their stuff. I'm looking for the mechanic to do a thorough PPI on the car and basically be the person who does the servicing for the car.
I've had good experiences at Longo Lexus service center, even though they are pretty far away from me(I'm in west la). I was also thinking of taking the 4runner to Longo Toyota to have the PPI done and all the servicing done(water pump, belts, radiator, etc) as an alternative to an indi mechanic. Once all the major stuff is done at Longo, I can do all the upkeep maintenance myself.
Thanks for the help,
Scott

I don't know where you live in Socal but, you should try The Toy Shop in Cypress. I found him on google. Good guy. He knows his Toyotas.

Sorry to dig up the old thread but wanted to check back on mechanics or dealerships I could use in SFV. I just picked up a '97 and would likely want to get the LBJ's replaced and probably replace the diff, trans fluid etc. Does anyone have any reliable recommendations for simple stuff like that?

Try Sang auto repair. He's located off of Redondo Bch Blvd & Prarie. Just past the 405fwy over pass heading west. He use to work at PCH Toyota then opened up his own place. He can do OEM parts if you request it(more $) or he'll do after market parts. Price is pretty good. Just call and he gives you a general price range over the phone.

K&H automotive in Canoga Park is awesome. Pretty much they only work on Toyotas, every time I go by there it's full of 4runners and land cruisers. I have a friend in the valley that uses them often, they do decent work and are fairly priced from what I can tell

Endorsed^^^.
NOTE: The actual name is K&H Import Repair, on Ingomar Ave. in Canoga Park.
Just recently had T-belt/Water pump service, valve cover gaskets, front crank seal, and some water hoses replaced at K&H. Good service, good prices, saved the old parts w/o me asking, and they were happy to tech-talk about the job.
I live in Santa Monica, which is becoming a high-rent district. It was worth making the arrangements to travel ≈25 miles for the better service and lower rates. The current owners took over from Richard, the original owner who retired, and seem to maintain his honest service ethic.
