Going To Big Bear This Weekend to Camp & Play in the Dirt, Need good Camp Sites
Just as the title says, I am going to Big Bear this weekend to camp. I want to find a cool camp site to take my family and a few friends to. I would like something that is a little fun to get to if you know what I mean. I just took my 4runner through a "Blue Square" trail over the weekend I was able to make it. So nothing more difficult than that.
If there are bathrooms close by then great, but not needed.
Any input would be great, someone over the weekend mentioned a campsite that they said a lot of offroaders go to call Hannah something.
Thanks a lot.

It's called Hannah Flat. There's also Big Pine Flat and Crab Flat. Check www.ReserveAmerica.com for availability.

The only sites the adventure pass "pays for" are yellow post sites. Yellow post sites are usually a bit harder to get to and have no facilities except a fire ring and bench;and are first come first serve. There are only a handful of YP sites in the whole of so cal. But I prefer them over most reservable sites( found on reserve America).

Ya, I ended going up Thursday afternoon (trying to beat traffic) with a buddy to try and find a site, but after hours of driving in the dark, I couldn't find a yellow post site. There are only 11 up there. Our group just remote camped the whole weekend except for the last night. The girls wanted a fire pit so we stayed at Holcomb Valley. Having a fire pit wasn't worth all the lights and the noise. Not doing that again. Lol
Thanks for the advice.

If you want I can pm some good sites to you( not that I claim them as mine or anything but reeeealy don't want the sites getting trashed by morons who don't leave it cleaner than when they arrived and also don't know how to properly put a fire out). Both of which I've encountered and wished I was a ranger to enforce the law. Also a good source for campsites is a fellow that goes by fishpoet that is on a myjeeprocks.com He has done A LOT of scouting and mapping campsites down to the exact coordinates
