We did 2N54 (fail), 2N06X (made it), 3N93 (made it, never again, wow)

Sweet thanks Brian. And yes should be icy. In my reference to roads I meant paved roads, not dirt roads having minimal ice. Sounds like you had a great time up there.

@ 626 4runner
hey bud, I have a pair of chains I could sell to you if you're interested. PM me.
This trip sounds fun! My runner has never seen snow since I bought it 2 years ago. I am ready to see some snow and have some fun! I am trying to see if I can make this trip with you guys!

Any update to this? My cousin and I were planning to head up early for wheeling and catch a half day session at Bear.

Just posted the full set of pictures from last weekend's GVL & Big Bear Lake Snow Trip on the last page of my build thread.
I'll be checking back to see how you guy's trip went. Be safe and bring chains. There may be a good deal of ice depending on the temps this week.

So if anyone is still in for tommorow I am departing from la at 6:30 tommorow morning for big bear. We can caravan up or just meet at the discovery center. I plan on running 3n16 all the way from fawnskin to the dump and deviate to a few harder trails. Depending on who shows up, we can figure out what we want to run. We can do gold mountain trail after we finish 3n16. Pm me if you are going or reply here. Should be a fun Trip.

Me and my cousin will be there. Any idea when you'll be at the discovery center?

Well I don't think you will need chains per say but if you get stuck on trail and find out it is covered in ice you might be lot less likely to "slide off the cliff" if you have chains on.
If you just avoid those trails or there is no ice then chains won't be needed.

Yeah I have km2 mud terrains and in the past have had a few slips, but nothing major. And I have gone with twice the amount of snow and ice I am expecting. If we do encounter a hairy section, I have no problem winching someone up it. Myself, i don't have chains but if someone wants to Run them that's fine. They aren't going to hurt. Look forward to doing a run with you Brian, last run I did with you I had my older 2nd gen 4Runner.

It would be great to meet up. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it tomorrow since I have personal stuff going on. I had decided to comment here to give you guys the pictures of what last weekend looked like.

I'm leaving Escondido at 6am tomorrow.
Barring needing chains on the main road or insane day skiing traffic heading up the hill, I should be there about 8:30 I guess.
Speaking of which, is it better to go up the 18 or the 330?
