Snow Drive Anyone?
Hey guys, it's hard to believe, but there is still a portion of a trail up by me with quite a bit of snow on it and the rest of the trail is pretty mellow, but scenic and fun to drive too. If anyone wants to go for a nice ~2 hr round rip (assuming the snow slows us up a bit) let me know and We'll meet up for a fun cruise. I'm up here through Sunday and pretty flexible.
(GVL is 30 minutes from where the 210 Frwy hits the 330)

Awesome Solo Snow Drive
No takers for the drive so I double checked all my recovery and survival gear and grabbed my two best buddies (yellow lab & fox terrier) and hit the trail. Absolutely beautiful day and had a blast charging through some of the deeper sections. Didn't see another person the entire time I was in the forest so I was very thankful for the new winch which came in real handy at this point where I stopped to move a log and my rig ended up sinking down onto the undercarriage armor leaving me high centered on some very heavy snow. Funny thing, I was with a few other Yotas a couple weeks ago and got stuck in almost the exact same spot - I thought it would have been more shallow by now so wasn't too cautious about keeping moving forward - lesson learned.

Is it snowing this weekend?
When was the last snow?
I may drive up and join.

No snow unfortunately and the last snow was about 8 days ago followed by a warm week. There's only snow left on the higher peaks, but it's fun seeing how far I can get up the trail before getting stuck. It may be possible to get past the snow section and make it the last 1/2 mi. to the summit, I haven't been out there since Monday but still quite a bit of snow on the shaded slopes. I was able to snowshoe up the old ski hill and board down last weekend and didn't hit any rocks in the shade so I'm almost positive there will be a good stretch with some snow - likely untracked.
It was super fun last week when there was 4-6" of fresh on the entire trail and never saw another vehicle - something fun about getting miles of first tracks no matter what your driving or riding.
I'm open from tomorrow thru Sunday, but it's supposed to get warmer each day so the earlier the better, but I'm flexible. It's a pretty narrow trail so not great for a large group, but fun with enough vehicles to get out of any situations.

I went for a cruise last night and it's getting thin in most spots, but still pretty thick in a couple spots. I didn't go all the way, but can tell from the rest of the snow that it will make for a nice drive, if we can make it through the snow gauntlet then the last 1/2 mi has a couple fun little climbs. Sat would be better but I can do Sun too. Nobody has been up there yet and it's always fun to get first tracks.

Hey scrap, if you can join me and you're in BB you should take 3N14>3N16 from Fawnskin into Green Valley. It's a primary route so nothing too exciting, but a lot more fun and scenic than taking the highway.

No takers once again so went for a solo "first ascent" since it snowed last so got plenty of fresh tracks along the way. I got about 1/4 mile from the very top and got stopped by a couple big trees that fell across the trail over the winter and I didn't have my saw with me so it look like the next trip will be a tree clearing mission.

That should be fine for me. It's a pretty fun drive to where the first tree is blocked so if you don't mind giving me a hand we can move a couple trees and make it to the summit just up another steep hill beyond that. Pretty mellow trail but you do need to put it in 4 to make it up the hill at the end. Just send me a message on Thursday afternoon if it works out for you, my pups usually join me too so we can stop and let them stretch and hike around for a few.

You could have a blast in a 2wd (almost to the end), i rarely need to put it in 4 unless it's snowy and that's all down to just a couple inches towards the end and it's on flat ground. The last section of the trail has a couple steep and rocky short climbs that will stop ya in 2wd, but you could jump in with me at that point or just do a little hike to the end (.25 to .5 mi). The drive isn't real long, but there are other trails that branch off that would be fun in 2wheel but will test your driving skills.
