Got referrals from Camburg to do some work on my 4R. I called around and had good luck with
Desolate Motorsports (562) 698-1460
12741 Los Nietos Rd, Santa Fe Springs, CA 90670
Ask for Greg. He did my BMC for $150. He sells/installs lifts and does custom fab work if needed.

Anyone have any recommendations to install light bars? I am about to install my GOBI rack and also install @Brad behind bumper grill light mounts. I am in Orange County.

Electrical work is interesting... Here's what I found out through my experience of searching for months for the right installer:
  1. It's fairly expensive.
  2. Installers will want to run their own diagrams and ways of doing things
  3. You won't be able to supervisor or know what they have done in case of an problem.

If you can find someone on the forum to work with you, my recommendation is pay them and have them help you do the install so you can troubleshoot. This way, you will have more options of how to route wires and mount lights/accessories.

With that said. Here are my shop recommendations:

1. Tom Vo's auto electic:
I have fixed cars with him for a few years and he is an honest dude. A little rough around the edges though.
Tomvo?s Auto Electric & Repair - 51 Reviews - Auto Repair - 523 N Harbor Blvd - Santa Ana, CA - Photos - Phone Number - Yelp

2. I can't remember the shop name but it's a guy in La Habra.. his name is Anthony and he's a younger guy. It's a full Auto shop and he is a nice guy and has multiple certifications.
714-612-7012 and his name is Anthony.

I highly recommend that you buy fuse/relay box before you start adding accessories. It will make your life A LOT easier.

I buy mine from a guy in Utah, his name is Erik, wired wagon... Email - [email protected]

Read here - post #9
What fuse relay box do you have?

Also - do you have switches for your lights? Factory style?

I'd recommend Sound Mania. I went there because of all of the great Yelp reviews and was not disappointed.

Can anyone recommend a good mechanic in the San Fernando Valley, preferably close to Sherman Oaks? I think my dad's been getting reamed on maintenance costs by the dealership so I'm looking for options.

The owner of this shop, John Najem, is a Toyota guru. His wife, Wendy, does all of the phone work, be sure to tell her that James from the 4Runner forum told you to call. I started going to him for service after searching for a Toyota mechanic. I've since become good friends with him. He's the only guy I trust to work on my 4Runners and Supras. He also coached me through many a project, such as my 99 4Runner's 4WD conversion/5 speed swap. He's not only just an honest mechanic, he's a perfectionist, so when he does work, he does it right. He always keeps good communication and explains things thoroughly.
this place sounds perfect. do you know if he works weekends? i live in costa mesa and work in HB, MV is hard for me to get to during the week.
