i want to have it checked out, have my mechanic give it a good once-over and let me know what needs to be done. spark plugs, fluids, etc. it was regularly dealer-serviced over the years, but nothing major other than scheduled services. the previous owners said he never used the 4wd, so i want to have all those fluids drained and replaced, which may be something i can do myself with the help of a mechanically inclined FJ80 owner buddy of mine. there are some other issues that need addressing...

my tailpipe has come out of the seat clamp and i think the exhaust may be bent where it is resting on the frame. not only does it look slightly kinked/bent, i can't just lift it up and pop it back in. there's a little rod on top of the resonator that pops in to the rubber sway clamp, and it just won't reach, leading me to think the pipe may be bent.

my CV axle is leaking (looks to be spewing) chunky bluish-gray fluid. at first i thought it might be coming from the XREAS, but after reading a couple other threads and looking at a proper CV vs. mine, i think it is the CV.

these are both parts i was hoping could either be repaired as they are or taken off a part-out and installed on mine. i hate paying out the nose for new items and i'm pretty sure both of these things can be reused from a salvaged runner, which seem to be plentiful on socal craigslists.

It is bent I'd say. It looks like it got backed into something and pushed backwards. A rubber mallet my be able to help that but it'll take some work. And i would suggest just getting new CV boots if possible. The actual joint itself may be just fine

Edit: the boot looks fine just clean the area well, grease it, and put a new clamp on it. (Looks like it's just lost the clamp)

How do you figure the boot is torn from that photo?

The front part is where the clam goes on, it happened the same way on mine and I just replaced it the other day, took me about 45 mins.

Get a new cv axle to put on, then buy a new set of boots then you have an extra axle, just in case. They are the same for left and right.

You can see clearly the front end of the boot and the clam still on it on the right side of the tear.

As far as the exhaust, I would get an easy come-along and try to pull it out slowly. If you mess it up just do the sideway exhaust.
For the axle, if you have access to a lift or a big enough jack, ( I don't trust those bottle jack ) jack stand and tools you can do it yourself and save some money, the axle is about $100 or less and have lifetime guarantee. Just my 2c.
Oh I forgot about the front diff oil will leak out, I did change the front, transfer case, and rear diff 2. A little less than 7qts of 75w-90 oil.

I didn't see any shops mentioned in SFV or L.A. for bumper installation? Anyone have any experience with shops in the greater Los Angeles area?

Thanks
