Well, it rained way more than usual in AZ as well. However, we drove some extremely remote trails in KOFA, right on the east side of the CO river, over the last 10 days and we found absolutely no standing water anywhere.

I also drove a trail just to the north of Phoenix and there was no water. There was no water in a tight canyon on an extreme trail that I hiked either.

However, 2 weeks ago there was some real snow right in the northeastern periphery of town.

We had new fences installed about two months ago. I need to stain them but I need them to dry out first. Maybe next weekend . . .

On topic, I saw that 78 was washed out east of Julian. That closes off one route to the wildflowers for now.

Went out and saw the blooms this weekend! They were beautiful and there were so many butterflies! But the crowds...geez...to be expected I guess. I found a couple spots where there weren't too many people though. Had to get through and away from the crowds though.

Google Maps calls it Henderson Canyon Road. From Pegleg Smith Monument, head west on Henderson Canyon Road. The splits into two Henderson Canyon Roads. Take the road to the south of the other one. The asphalt is torn up at first and then it turns to sand.

I’ve been wanting to get out there too, but it’s been such a dry season there’s not much of a bloom. But any day exploring is a good day.
Here’s where I look for current wildflowers info.
Theodore Payne Foundation Wildflower Hotline:
Wild Flower Hotline | Theodore Payne Foundation

In PDF format, March 12 edition:
https://theodorepayne.org/wp-content...ext-31221-.pdf

Desert USA has a good site. Each location is rated with a wildflower status “thermometer” from 1 to 10. Every place is a 1 so far. Anza-Borrego is a 2.
Desert Wildflowers - Where to view the desert wildflowers - DesertUSA

@Ray Dunakin is a frequent desert explorer. Maybe he’s got some recent news.

Unfortunately I have not had a chance to get out there yet this year. From what I've read in the local news, the bloom has been pretty sparse.

Good to know thank you for the information. Hopefully we get some sort of decent bloom after these couple bouts of rain we've had.
