Any fishermen willing to teach me how to shore fish the ocean?

I grew up fishing for pan fish in Wisconsin but I have no idea what I知 doing out here in the saltwater fishing off the shore.

I値l bring sandwiches!

hey there!! hows it doing? i see you posted this a while back and your location is san diego. im in so cal and go fishing on open party boats. if you have not tried going out on one of the big three fishing landings, give it a try. most local people that fish are willing to help out a new fisherman to the area. tight lines!!

Man there really isn't anything more relaxing than Surf Fishing. Now is a good time as well, should start to see some bigger perch in the surf.

I haven't been able to get out as much as I used to but not sure if you have checked out the site below yet. Great forum and a good group of guys willing to help out, at least it was when I was learning.

If you have any specific questions DM me and I would be happy to help with anything I can.

Come on, you should have picked up all you need to know from fishing here in WI - once the water freezes over, drill a hole, grab a bucket, and go sit over the hole for a few hours jigging 2lb test and a 18" UL rod!
Just apply that to the big O and you are all set

Very mean @apohl17 . Now picture poor old @BLK7BRD sitting there on the sand with his ice drill and bucket waiting for the Pacific ocean to freeze over in San Diego.

Best advice I can give is to get a 11-ish ft rod, lightweight reel & line (10# test is fine), and pick up some bloodworms at a bait shop (Pacific Coast bait & tackle up in Carlsbad usually has them).

carolina-rig the worms with a 1/2 oz egg weight and try to fish an incoming / out going tide if you can time it.

That should put you on a few perch for sure.

Feel free to DM me your contact info - I'd like to get out again soon, have been buried the last few months fixing up a house.
