Trail run this weekend?
Anyone into getting in a trail run this weekend? I'd like something in the mountains as the Desert is a bit hot. Corral Canyon? i'm into a moderate trail or easy if its a pretty drive. Ideas?
Pic for fun

Yeah we can do something chill. I'm thinking Espinosa Trail up at Corral Canyon OHV. from my understanding its all pretty much fire road and has one harder section. I know someone that did it last week so I will reach out to them for trail conditions.
It goes up to the Los Pinos fire look out which is the southern most fire lookout and is manned right now.

My bad I guess Espinosa Trail is rated difficult... on Trails offraod
we can do lost pinos rd. which goes to the look out
16S17 - Los Pinos Road - California Offroad Trail
and head back or head down to espinosa if we feel like it.
4E03 - Espinosa Trail - California Offroad Trail

Espinosa (aka Los Pinos Mtn Loop I believe) is where I got all those pin stripes on my rig.
Seems like sometimes these are listed as separate trails and also as the same, so a little confusing I guess.
It was about a year ago and was pretty overgrown, maybe it's been cut back by now.
If you go the counter clock wise direction, up to the fire tower first, then down to the left there is 1 difficult section where I turned around near 2 large green tanks. The rain had eroded the trail and exposed some pretty steep rocks and there is no bypass. As I was out there solo I didn't want to get stuck and decided to head back.
Once you're in the trees and heading down hill there will be a huge rock formation on your right and a small creek to the left, suggest getting out and scouting that section before heading down as once you're in it it will be difficult to turn around.
Sorry I don't have a pin or .gpx to share to give you a better idea of where that section is.
It's probably possible to get over that section, but not with a stock rig.
Have fun.

Sweet! so we decided on a Sunday run. right now it is me an one other from the SD 4runner group, and it sounds like my brother is 90% going. maybe with kids maybe with out.
Were going to do the loop as 2112 R said. Los Pinos up to the lookout then Espinosa and onward. I think its called Courte Madera... all are just fire roads except the Espinosa section. I talked to a guy that did it last weekend and he ran it lifted with 32s and open diffs. So if you are stock there could be some rock damage issues.
We are meeting up at 9 AM Sunday at the circle K in Alpine. But if you guys are two rigs plus three on my side the parking lot is Tiny and may switch to the Chevron just to the other side of the freeway. Gas is more but the lot is bigger.
If you confirm then we can get it nailed down.
I'd say Bring a HAM radio if you have but shouldn't be absolutely necessary

Fun! Been a while since I've been very active on here since I was busy getting married a month ago now, but would love to get some trail runs in with more local people! I can't make it Sunday. I could go tomorrow, Saturday, but considering it's already 11pm Friday night that probably won't happen. Guess I'll just install my C4 diff skid tomorrow haha
