Labor Day
Kicking around the idea of going to Big Sur for a couple of days... Any planned (family friendly) trips planned?

I generally dont camp in campgrounds... you need 6 months advance planning for stuff like that.
What did you have in mind

Oh I didn't have any recommendations but was just wondering because campgrounds get booked quick during holidays in that area.

If you guys need a suggestion we have camped up in Los Padres National Forest up there. Not sure if its the same as Los Padres in Santa Barbara. However...
If you look up Kirk Creek Campground. on the East side of Hwy 1 there is Nacimento Fergusson Rd. head up that at the high point it you can go left right or straight. Left is Forest service route 22S05 we've camped up there here, 36.011981, -121.458468
if you go right it is Coast Ridge Trail people camp all along that there is a ton of pull offs. Most popular is Prewitt Ridge Campsite... not sure how much of an actual campsite it is but when we went there was a ton of people there.
If you were to have gone straight at the T there is Nacimiento Campground which much lower elevation very covered by trees. there was a little creek. It was 10 bucks a night there and had pit toilets tables and a fire ring.
Hope that helps

Piling on this thread... anyone going anyplace interesting for Labor Day weekend? I'm just back from Wyoming/Montana (4K miles!), swore that I wasn't driving anywhere anytime soon, but now I'm eyeing the long weekend and wondering... :-)

I'm likely heading up to the Sierras ... there are some primitive camping up there near badger flats... we'll see what we find.

I'll be heading up to onion valley campground. My Dad and sister booked a campsite to my surprise and so we're going to do some hiking in the John Muir wilderness.
