Holy Jim and Santiago Peak
Has anyone been up to Holy Jim trail and/or Santiago Peak to see if either are open for driving/ recreational use?
Any plans for New Years Eve runs?

All Trails shows it as closed.
Was thinking of doing a new years day run.

Thinking of doing a day trip on New Year’s Day with the family as well. I’m inclined to do something moderate to hard but not going solo on a run like that either.

Wife gave me the go ahead to do a day trip on New Years day. Depending on the run I might take the fam, but she is a wus.
What is moderte-hard?

Anything blue or maybe an easier black sounds like fun. Pinyon Mountain would probably be the hardest I’d do without a locker. Sidewinder in Corral Canyon looks like it would be fun to take the “easier” lines. Never been to either before though. Valley of the Moons is a good moderate I think.

Valley of the moon would be top on my list. I’ve been once and it’s a good time. I’ve done sidewinder once and with the rain there will definitely be a extra challenge, and it’s pretty damn challenging to begin with.
Calcite mine is a moderate also kind of by truck heaven
You open diff in the rear?

Yep, open. As many times as I’ve been in that area, I’ve never ran Calcite Mine.

Would be nice to get a plan locked in soon. Seems like my brother is interested in Valley of the Moon also. I looked up Calcite mine on AllTrails and someone was out there a couple weeks ago and said all the rain has made it a bit more difficult. once we get it locked in I have a couple more friends i'll invite and maybe do an event on the SD4runner FB page. see if we can get a little group.

Count me as a maybe, it looks like we’re probably headed to the Safari Park tomorrow. I’ll let you know if anything changes.
