WTB 3rd Gen or Tacoma in Socal

My younger son is turning 16 and I'm on the hunt for a 3rd gen or Tacoma for him. Lots of people trying to get big bucks for piles of crap.

I actually prefer a 2wd because it's cheaper to buy and maintain. But I would buy the right 4wd if the price was right.

Let me know if anyone has anything they want to get rid of for a fair price, not looking to get bent over.

Thanks!

The 2WD drive in my signature will be coming up for sale soon minus suspension upgrades, retrofit projector/halos and sport hood

I don't know where in Socal you are, and This is way out on the east side of the state, but it doesn't look like a bad deal.

That is a sentiment I can totally understand (and depending on the damage I wouldn't touch some with a 50ft pole), but I'd counter with these two points

1) It doesn't take much to salvage these anymore, especially 2 years ago when this rig was probably worth $5500, so sometimes a fender bender can total it out.

2) I've been driving my 4runner for 11 years and 100k and I bought it as a salvage.

I think it totally depends on the damage done, and the quality of the repair. Fire and flood are deal breakers for me, but a minor accident can result in this, which is probably about 60% of a similar vehicle with a clean title.

Very literally YMMV

I saw that red one on CL. HOLY $15k!!! Low miles and one owner are great but I can't justify that price.

I paid $4k for my last 3rd gen less then 3 years ago with 171,000. I know prices are crazy right now but to me that's beyond crazy.

On Friday I bought a 2000 with 157k, far from perfect but just what I was looking for and for the right price.
