Clarks Grade is a Green Circle rated trail that is sometimes upgraded to Blue Square for weather damage. Most of the vehicles look to be close to stock which is another reason to have the easy trail. Those of us looking for more of a challenge can do John Bull or Gold Mountain afterwards. Once we are at the Ranger station if there is a large consensus to split then we can. I know the prefered group size on any trail is 6-10 vehicles.

I am willing to do a more challenging trail but am not sure how ready my 4R is. What do you think? 4th gen SE 4wd with 265 70 Goodyear SA and CF 2/1 spacer. Also have spidertrax but that shouldn't matter. I did do some of the mod portions of the Cleghorn trail in the past when my tires had more tread.

Cool. Here's the address to the Target.
24500 Alicia Pkwy, Mission Viejo, CA 92691
I was thinking we leave by 7:15 or so. It's about the same distance from here as the Long Beach caravan (1.1 mile difference)
My route being 5N -> 55N -> 91E/215N -> 10E -> 38
That is if I get someone to come along, I really don't want to go by myself.

Oh, no... That wasn't what I was implying, rock crawling isn't really my thing. Clarks Grade is a nice mellow trail. I have run it dozens of times on my way up to Big Bear instead of the long windy road. I am not concerned with the trails being too easy, I am just wondering about the sheer magnitude of having so many trucks on it. Sucks for anyone coming from the opposite direction.

For those of you going along with the Long Beach area caravan, please send me an email so I know who and how many to look out for.
Driffter, I will give you a call on the way up so you can join in as well.

HB- understood the meaning. I was pointing out that a trail like Clarks Grade would be the only type (rating) that you could even try to get 20+ rigs up in a reasonable time.
FYI- I think I have a spot for us to get all lined up for a pic that should come out nice.

The road behind the visitors center that leads to Holcomb Valley, as well as the trail to Holcomb near the cabin and 3N16 are both long, open areas. I am not sure if you plan on splitting before that point though.

Sure wish Prospectator was going, he's got skill with a camera.
Someone bring an SLR! The camera... not the Mercedes...

Thanks for thinking of me but I am going to be out that way Friday visiting a friend so I am planning on stay with him. He works at Forest Home which is real close to the Ranger Station we are meeting at.
See you out there.
