El Paso, NM. New to the community

Hey all, The name's Chris, I'm a father of 4 and a 2017 T4R ORP owner for 2 weeks now, almost 1,200 miles so far!

I'm currently living in El Paso..... which I consider part of NM considering it's proximity to NM and where most of the TX T4R people in that do live in TX.

Anyway, any meets or otherwise in the near future? I have many questions as I embark on this journey of modification, overlanding, off roading, etc...

Thanks,
-Chris

Hey Chris, welcome! I'm actually not too far at all! I'm in Las Cruces. I never hear of meets but I'd love to organize one! I bet you are loving the new 4Runner. I not sure if I'll be able to answer many of your questions but I'll learn with you! We should get out sometime...Also, my wife and I are expecting our first little one in the spring!

Andrew,

Nice to know there are some members just north of me. I actually spoke to another guy on overlandbound.com that lives on the west side of El Paso, he's got an FJ. Perhaps we should work on a trip to Dona Ana or something.

Yes, I love the new 4runner. I was coming from an xterra and as much as I miss it, the T4R more than makes up for it.

Congrats on the new child. My wife and I have 4 boys (8,5,3 and 1 years old) and life is busy to say the least.

I'll try to reach out to the FJ guy and see if we can't make something happen.

-Chris

Yes we totally should! I'd love to do a trip with y'all. The Doña Ana's are pretty fun for sure. There are just a bunch of trails around Las Cruces in general.

Also, since I'm pretty sure you are really into overlanding, have you checked out New Mexico Backroads? Jake, the owner is a really cool guy and the expeditions they go on look awesome. I wanted to go on their fall Gila trip but it was just too pricey for me.

I'm actually quite new to all this. And I've never heard of New Mexico back roads. Just saw the site now. Prices aren't listed, I'm curious how much they cost. The trips look really well thought out.

Yea, as far as I know, the trips are very well planned out and it's a very professional experience. Looks like an absolute blast. The 3 day (200miles) Gila Overland trip I was looking into cost $395 per person plus USFS land use fee and tax. Plus whatever required equipment I didn't own at the time. What's your email? I'll send you the details of that specific trip I received.
