SoCal meet/ Del Mar get-together
I've noticed a lot of interest from forum members in having a SoCal get together so I thought I would make a thread to see how many people are interested. I don't think this should be limited to people in the immediate area (or to 5th gens for that matter) but a location somewhere near Del Mar/ Carmel Valley area would be most convenient.
I'm thinking a weekend lunch would be easiest for everybody but feel free to share what days work and don't work.
I'm thinking first weekend in August?
Feel free to PM me and let other local forum members know. I'm looking forward to meeting more of you and seeing some awesome rigs!
-Sean
UPDATE 8/1:
How does everyone feel about the flower field parking lot in Carlsbad? This is just south of the same location that has the Cars & Coffee meet on Saturday, but we would be meeting on a Sunday.
As of today (7/18) I have no plans for a trail run. I believe there is a trail ride up in Cleghorn on the 1st but this would be taking place the following day.
This is as far North as I would like to have the meet since it was originally for Del Mar area folks but I think scheduling a trail run later in the month will allow for more flexible locations more north where there is more places to go wheeling.
If you would like to come, leave a post or send me a PM with your contact info so I can make a list on the first post of this thread to see how many people are interested.
Bellow are the directions for the meet:
Address: 5704 Paseo Del Norte Carlsbad, CA 92008
From I-5 exit Palomar Airport Rd
Head EAST (from I-5S-Left, from I-5N-Right)
Turn LEFT on Paseo Del Norte
At first intersection turn RIGHT into shopping center
Enter and keep RIGHT at T-intersection into FLOWER FIELDS parking lot.
***Please note I have had to move our location to the Flower Fields parking lot that is just south of the outlet mall lot. See the map for details. All of the updated info is in blue.
Current List:
1. SKP-4R
2. BeachRunnerSD
3. 98WhiteT4R
4. Oneluv13T4R

So Cal meet-up
Sounds like a good idea Sean. I'd like to see that Stage 2 lift of yours.
Someplace where we could actually do a trail ride would be good. Maybe Wrightwood, Frazier Park or Canyon Country. Temecula, Lake Elsinore or Riverside?
Carmel Valley is almost 3 hours from Downtown LA. Del Mar would be fine for anyone living in Orange County but there are no off-road opportunities there. It's by the beach in urban sprawl.
Don't plan around me though. I won't take delivery of my 4Runner until the 3rd weekend in August, 8/15/15 at the earliest. My T4R TE is being built this week and shipped by 8/10. May take a few days to get it out of the Port of LA and onto the dealers lot.

A trail run would be ideal, but depending on how many people are interested and where they are coming from it may not be in the cards. A lot of local members are in the Del Mar area, but if its convenient we can move it someplace better suited. I don't want to leave out you LA folks!
I would definitely suggest that you come along if you can. Maybe get some inspiration from the other rigs. I highly recommend stage 2 and if you're interested, and I can put you in contact with someone who can offer unbeatable pricing.
Good luck with the delivery!

Trabuco Canyon meet-up
I just realized that by "Del Mar/ Carmel Valley" you may be referring to the Del Mar Racetrack area. That's one valley over from Carmel. Yes, that's far south.
I see in the SoCal section that was linked above, where you also posted this, there's a call for a meet-up in the Trabuco Canyon area to clean up a particular trail (forget the name of the trail). This trail might be a good alternate meet-up location. Aliso Viejo is about 1&1/2 hours from here, the same distance as the locations I mentioned above. It's probably 1 hour north of Carmel Valley, right?
I do a lot of trail maintenance on hiking trails here locally. The Trabuco trail clean-up sounds like a great idea.

Thats an option, but I'm trying to put more of an emphasis on the "Meet and Greet". What I'm thinking is having a meet for SoCal/ Del Mar members and then have a trail run either later that day or the following weekend.
I think the trail run would attract a wider audience since we can be more flexible on location, but I'm hoping to keep the actual meet in the local Del Mar area in San Diego (Cars & Coffee style).

Dang. Had a hard time finding this, but I am in. Perhaps Jicko and Warthog would be as well. Would be nice to meet some locals.

Had to be moved to a dark corner of the forum but oh well....
Definitely get some local guys in on this. I'm thinking first weekend in August for a local brunch meet-up and then hit a trail (spooks?) if everyone is interested and time permitting.
That being said, I know there are a lot of Riverside/ LA folks as well so scheduling a separate trail ride more north is also something to consider.
For all of those interested, feel free to post ideas, dates, times, etc....

Wherever...
Im in doesnt matter location, coffee, trail whatever you decide just plan it, stick to it and they will come and if not maybe they can make it next time or plan there own. This is your meet in greet, and everyone is going to detour you in other directions. Can't cater to everyone and whether its an 1hr or 2hrs who cares, so what you get to go for drive in your rig you love so much and meet some fellow enthusiast. Sounds worth it to me already..Im in
