Most everyone met up at Los Coches McDonald's then drove to Corral Canyon where we met up with a few others. While TraumaHawk was solely representing TR4.ORG, 17 other rigs, mostly of which were FJs showed up for the run. We had 3 4Runners, a Dodge Power Wagon and a single, lonely Jeep Rubicon!
While everyone thought we would be camping out there with so many rigs (10 rigs cancelled), we actually did the trail quickly and swiftly!!! Most of the rigs had no armor, just running 33's and sliders. We had a new trailrider, 3rd time out, show up with his bone stock '88 4Runner running just sliders and 32's...open diffs too, he sustained no damage and finished with ease.
We started the run at 10:45 or so and were probably 80% done by 12:00. The waterfall and last challenge took up the bulk of the time. Everyone did the waterfall successfully and a few (the Jeep, a 4Runner and FJ, ) went the tough way and bypassed the waterfall. Bailey (FJ) did a great job from keeping his truck from doing an endo on the waterfall; we all received small heart attacks!
The last obstacle with it's alternate route, Stairway To Heaven, proved to be a toughy for two rigs. Everyone up until Ollie (FJ) went the easy way and scooted right up. Ollie (FJ) decided to go up Stairway To Heaven, but it proved rather to difficult and he ended up winching himself up and out. The Jeep was next and ended up bending a steering rod of some sort. The trail ended about 100 feet or so later.
We wrapped up the end of the day at about 3:00 after 3 or so hours in the last obstacles. Most everyone aired up and talked about the EPIC trail ride and then headed home. TraumaHawk and Baja2oy (85 4Runner) continued on to run Bronco Flats, Gunslinger and Gunslinger Offshoot ending the day as a night run.
