On the FJ forum there is a group setting up a Big Bend trip over Christmas break too. They are looking for others that want to join them.

I think it's the same group but they are making a Big Bend trip Oct 22 to 26th. Planning on joining them
October run to Big Bend National Park - Toyota FJ Cruiser Forum

Sounds like a good time! Gonna take the family but will probably leave Oct 23 and meet up with group at camp site

I say educate yourself as much as you can. Save your money on installs and do the work yourself. I did the lift install on my FJ and 4runner. If you can read most of the stuff requires minimal tools. So I guess I have some experience but not a lot. I know if I do my work no corners are cut and it is done right.
