I will get some more pics up of the interior. It has all the original cargo pieces, you'll see better with some photos. The front seats are either aftermarket or from a newer truck; by no means plush but really new looking. The original material on the rear bench is trashed unfortunately, but I got a great tip from austintaco on the classic section about swapping the material and cushion from a newer seat on to my seat frame, sounds like a fun project.
I have already thought about painting the vinyl... have to take the driver's side door panel out to fix the window anyway, so might as well. I plan on cleaning everything thoroughly and stripping it down with acetone and shooting a couple of coats of Duplicolor vinyl spray. I've done it before and came out looking like stock- holds up great too. I'll paint all the plastic/vinyl black, the blue sheet metal will show here and there, but just enough to still feel retro.
If I find the time and motivation, I'll take out the blue carpet and Herculine the floor. Then there's the ignition cylinder trim... some ingenuity will be needed to make it look right.
Before any of that though, the first cosmetic project will be an exterior paint job (PO stenciled a ridiculous bunny smoking on the rear fender and lots of spraycan touch-ups); I can address the small rust on the fender and some minor dents, etc. Probably a repaint, maybe a slight color change; not going all out to do inner door and engine bay, etc so it will basically stay the same color. I've never done body work before, so I'm reading up on it right now. Going to set up a makeshift spraybooth or possibly rent a booth. I am a painting contractor, so I'm familiar with an HVLP and pretty sure I can learn the material and get a decent finish on it; not looking for a show-quality restoration, just a new finish to get it looking like a nice little work truck. Looking forward to giving it a shot!
