06 Sport Model Sway Bars or Non XREAS Runners

My 06 was lifted when I bought it and the XREAS system was removed, I guess my question is, Did the Non XREAS V8 models have sway bars and could I put those on mine? Would it handle better? Are there aftermarket sways that would up the handling characteristics any?

I have some type of moderate OME lift currently.

I'd like my rig to be more of a good handling cruiser with the option of hitting the trails periodically.

I can't say much for their handling off-road, as I'm sure it ain't great. I installed the ADDCO sway bar kit back in February this year (I removed the XREAS about the same time in 2017).

After a year with the weeny stock sway bars (keeping in mind that as far as I know, the Limited V8 has the "biggest" stock sway bars)... the ADDCO bars are a dramatic improvement in body roll management. Passengers no longer clunk heads during hard cornering. Rave reviews about the handling from others that drive it. Its ability to corner instills a bit more confidence than what is likely prudent given the tendency for the BFG AT2s to hold on under duress.

I have 6110s up front and 5160s out back, MOOG stock length springs rearward. Front shocks are on the "lowest" perch setting, essentially a leveling lift.

Anyway, something to note is that the ADDCO bar up front, atleast at my ride height, contacts the oil filter under hard cornering. I use a smaller filter to address this. I don't know what filter number/size it is off the top of my head.

All in, it was heinously expensive to do... probably $1200 CAD parts and labour. Absolutely worth every penny considering how I use the truck.

To sum it up, the ADDCO kit accurately reproduces the solid cornering the truck had with the healthy XREAS system (and installs all the downsides of heavy sway bars, unlike the XREAS :( ). I wouldn't want to return to the stock bars (although I did keep the stockers).

Let me know if you have any specific questions and I will do my best to answer.

Want to sell the stockers?

Any modifications needed to install on a XREAS vehicle, the frame has go to be the same as a non equipped vehicle right?

If you were close I might consider it. It probably wouldn't be worth your money to ship mine internationally.

Easier to find a Limited locally that got smacked up and get theirs.

As far as I know, from a mounting perspective, a sway bar is a sway bar on the 4th gen. They really only connect to the truck at 4 locations. XREAS or non would not likely change any of that architecture.

I do know that there's a small variety that came with the various trims and engine configurations. If I recall correctly, the V8 Liimited had the 32mm front and... ... 23mm rear? I think it was 23. Regardless of the number I think that was the biggest available.

i was having such a hard time wrapping my head around the oil filter comment, but then i re-read... V8. i was thinking of my V6 and racking my brain.

Sport Editions have the largest sway bars over the Limited and the SR5. Go to any parts store and search for the sway bar bushing and notice they are different on the Sport.

Is there any metric known about how much bigger they are?

Thanks for the clarification!

Not that we're a bunch of size queens, but...
