08 SR5 Mod Fog ligths on seperate switch

This is only my 2nd post on this site.
I am little out of the loop on the lingo, example 4gen, 3rd gen, OTM...
I am looking to put my fog lights on a seperate switch so i can turn them on and off at any time.
i have searched the site, but i want to make sure i am doing it right for a 2008 4runner.
if somone could provide me with pictures, diagrams, suggestions, bulbs, etc.
I would like to use one of the blank switchs by the shifter and install a little rocker switch.
any help would be appreciated.

There is no need for a seperate switch.

do you know if it is possible do set up a seperate switch???

Of course anything is possible, just cut the wires going to the factory switch and splice in new ones to the new switch.

But the whole point of the mod as described above is to make the factory switch work independently, so I am not sure why you would want another switch that would be harder to reach and waste an open cutout.

gotcha...i do like the idea of have a toggle switch right by the shifter so i never have to reach by the steering column...

i know you said i shouldn't waste a cut out...do you have some cool ideas for other switches to put in those cut outs??

I dont know...Cool idea, i guess would be front and rear arb air locker switches. Otherwise you always could get the JDM coin holder for the switch cut out. Most people use them for additional driving or fog lights.

I just wouldnt waste one to have the switch near by, dont you just turn them on and then forget about it?

i just found them today....
HA!!
so i can turn them on now, and they will go on every time i have lights on???
this car is 6 days old, i am still exploring...
