1st gen carpet color

I'm getting ready to order some carpet for the cargo area of my son's runner for a Christmas present. Hoping someone here can confirm the closest to stock color choice available from 84-89 Toyota 4Runner Rear Deck 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989

Can anyone confirm this statement? Poster only has one post on record (and its a 2nd gen) so I'm not too confident. Don't have time to order samples and still make it happen by Christmas.

I just replaced the carpet front and rear (1998 4runner Oak interior) with SANDSTONE. It is almost an exact match to the original Oak. Order a sample because if you order the carpet and don't like the color and return it for that reason they will charge you a 20-25% restocking fee. None of the other colors were even close to the original oak. I got the "mass backed" standard carpet and am ecstatic with the results.

My 1st gen runner has the tan interior. Not sure if it is "Oak" or not.

I just ordered complete rear from Rockauto a couple weeks back. Did plush with mass backing, got a great deal.
Their website has the color samples online, just scroll through the photos to get to your color. Then hold the laptop up to the front carpet and do your best.
Mine came out perfect, but mine was standard grey...so I can't help with the oak, sorry.

I'd highly recommend the mass backing. I'd also recommend peel and seal the floor first, then fill the low grooves to make the rear flat, then add a padding layer, then put down the carpet. I did this, per a post I found from Radrunner (I believe) and it's so cozy back there!

I'm not 100% on this, but I think they started calling it "oak" in 1990 with the 2nd gen. The 1st gen 4runner brown is a lot darker than the 2nd and 3rd gen "oak". I would either get the brown or black one.

The blue carpet I got from them for my truck was an exact match to the OEM carpet that was covered under the center console. I would be willing to bet several companies go through ACC and just re-badge them, so if you find it cheaper on another site and it looks similar to ACC's website, chances are that's who its made by.

The mats I got through Rockauto are ACC. They fit well. don't buy direct from ACC though, I noticed their pricing was substantially higher than other sources.

Thanks... I had no idea there were so many options. I think I have the dove grey.

1/1/16 Update: Ended up ordering the 807 Dark Gray. Just finished the install. I think it was the correct color. Hard to tell for sure when comparing to the 27 year old faded stock carpet! Now I need to see if they have the piece for the tailgate or if I have to buy the bulk carpet and make my own.
