2004 4Runner still on OEM Panasonic battery

runs good but think it's time for a new one

From what I've seen/read, the "Diehard Platinum" battery is pretty much a rebadged Odyssey battery (Aka awesome battery) ..

Bought my baby straight off the lot in 06 and the battery is still kicking with 215k on it. Been thinking about replacing it or having a spare in the back since I just installed a system in my truck and the battery is showing its age (cracks on top of the battery)

Been thinking about the diehard platinum 31m, but damn is that thing pricey.

04 with 111,000 miles. still the factory battery. just keep the terminals clean. jump started tons of cars and tractors with no issues.

03 158,000 miles has panasonic battery. Orig. owner said he never replaced it. I have owned it a year. Mechanic says should replace it and he loves old batterys because he can sell a starter, alt. and battery.

As the title says, my '04 is still going strong on the original Panasonic battery. Even after a summer of record heat here in NY, the battery shows no signs of dying. I did a 15-second load test on it yesterday and the needle didn't even budge!!



How long can we expect these batteries to last? Anyone else on the OEM battery after seven years?

I replaced my Panasonic at 122k an 9 years. No sign of wear on the original battery, just was traveling abroad and wanted to make sure there were no issues while I was gone.

My original Panasonic battery just bit the big one FINALLY. I thought about replacing my battery last winter but kind of wanted to see how long it would go. Now I know, 10 years is pretty good in my book. Went to NAPA and they seemed kind of surprised that the 4runner had such a big battery. Ended up getting there NAPA Legend 34R AGM batter which is smaller than the Panasonic.
