2005 T4R Brake Calipers

My tale: Don't have much spare time to work on my T4R. So when I started experiencing the infamous shimmy, took it to the dealer. They rebuilt one Front and replaced the other. Invoice says Toyota Caliper and Pads. Soon after this, started getting Heavy Duty Metal Clanking from Passenger Front. Raise the car and with my rubber mallet and pinch bar, start check suspension and skid plates. All are fine........Next take the wheels off and hit the right Front Caliper and clank. Also, its a reman caliper and not OEM. It also are non Toyota pads.

Now put my finger on the outside pad and its so loose that it moves up and down 1/8 inch impacting the caliper housing and the rotor....each time yup a load clank.

Take it back to local Thief (Toyota) and yup, start doing double shuffle. I have original bill and it shows replaced with Toyota Caliper and pads. Point to nice big sign at part window advertising same. Now they are doing all they can to make it right........really disappointed

If the pads were that loose I would assume they neglected and/or forgot to install the retaining pins for the pads. You should see two solid pins that go through the top of the caliper and the holes in the brake pads, they should also have a small cotter pin on the back side of the caliper holding them in, otherwise the pads can just slide right out.

Or the m-springs are fatigued. I've had this cause my front pads to clank over bumps.
