2006 Limited Leather

I've been reading a lot about how to care for leather seats. I've never own them before. I read about uncoated and coated leather. What I don't know is what the 4Runner come with? Here are my questions:

- What is the best way to take care of toyota factory leather?

- How much of the interior is actually "leather"? I know this may sound dumb but there is a lot of leather texture in the interior.

- What do I need to watch out for. I don't want to damage the leather by accident.

- Where can I go to find out what toyota reccomends for thier leather?

Use something like Meguiar's leather wipes, or cleaner and lotion from Lexus on the leather to care for it. Some say applying too much lotion will make it stretch easily. I'm not sure though.

I believe the steering wheel, shift knob, the inserts on the front seats (not the side bolsters and padding, rear seat back) and the the two inserts closest to where the rear seat back and seat cushions meet are leather. It might be possible the front headrests are leather.

Don't carry keys or pointed objects on your belt or waist. I've heard dark color jeans can color fast and stain the leather. I've noticed my driver seat cushion is a little bit darker (black hue) than the rest of the seat(s).

Ask the dealer, don't recall if the owner's manual mention anything or visit a luxury car dealer and see what they sell/recommend for the leather.

I have used Lexol products. They worked the best for me for me. You can also use them on shoes!

I second the recommendation for Lexol products. I've been using their leather cleaner and protector for years and they work really well.

I started using Mequiar's Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner/Conditioner in my Lexus, and continue to do so in my T4R. I found the results to be very good, application is easy (just spray on and wipe off) and does not leave a greasy feel afterwards and the smell is quite pleasant. I usually apply twice a year.

Just like any quality leather product, you want to moisturize it so that it will preserve the leather and not dry out. Something with UV protection might also be beneficial to help reduce the effects of the sun.
