Well I'm dreading this, and as much as I am trying to put this off, I need to start at least gauging interest in my 4Runner.
I love this vehicle so much, it is by far the most fun-to-drive SUV i have had, but with 2 kids in daycare its' time to drive a cheap beater for a few years until the financial situation changes.
I wasn't planning on selling it for a few months, but I think I may as well start since it'll be like pulling a band-aid off - you just have to do it.
I believe in full disclosure so below you can read everything I know about the vehicle, both good and bad.
I took pics, but they came out crappy, I'm going to try to take better ones tomorrow or this weekend, I'll add them as soon as I can.
The Specs:
2008 Toyota 4Runner Limited, V8 - $19,000 (Located in Charlotte, NC)
White with Grey interior
75K miles (and change)
Has JBL, Nav, bluetooth, leather, sunroof, rear air suspension, memory seats etc. etc. As far as I know this thing has every option that Toyota offered that year except for back-seat DVD screens and the third row seating.
I'll save all the self-explanatory stuff for the Craigslist ad (power mirrors, heated mirrors, sunroof etc). If you are on this forum, you know these cars, you know what you are dealing with here and what options the Limited came with.
I had the vehicle detailed and had paint correction done about a month ago. The paint looks great and has a nice shine. It's in great condition - the paint has a few small nicks in it - the kind you get with a car that isn't a showroom car, but there are no big scratches or dings.
The only modification made is the muffler was replaced with a Flowmaster 50 Series big-block muffler. When you give it some gas and when you first fire it up you can tell there is a little extra growl there, but at idle and put-putting around town you wouldn't know the difference.
The V8 bade from the grille is un-clipped and sitting in the glove compartment - I thought it took away from the symmetry of the car.
If you know these vehicles, you know how solid they are and that this thing is just getting started at 75K. You also know what the 2 achilles heels of the V8's are:
1: 4LO actuator. This was replaced at 66K miles and I have been "exercising" it regularly.
2: Exhaust Manifolds. A lot of people probably won't even notice this issue, but I am too honest of a person by nature to not mention this.
It has the typical 4Runner V8 hairline cracks in the manifolds. Personally, I can tell by listening to the exhaust when you first start the car, but my wife, parents etc. They all can't tell. The noise disappears after about 5 minutes of the engine being on. Again ... full disclosure - I want you to know what I know. I was really hoping to have purchased the Thorley headers and have them installed before I put this up for sale, but it looks like they are slightly delayed, so that will be a project for the new owner. This flaw is the reason the car is priced at 19K and not 20K which is still less than what comparable 4Runners list for around here.
Of course you don't necessarily need to fix this. Based on posts on this forum there are a ton of guys out there who just don't care so they just leave it.
I have 3 keys, but only 1 remote. The dealer I bought it from tried to give me zero remotes, but after I went postal they went and got one and programmed it for me. By the looks of it, one can be had for around $40, I just never bothered - if my wife borrowed the car she took my keys too.
They also gave me no floormats (cheap bastards) so I purchased OEM ones from the dealer.
Has a clean CarFax. I haven't looked at it in a while, but from what I can remember the car started it's life with it's first owner in Cape Cod, MA. I have had it since March of 13'.
I can't speak for the previous owner, but I have never towed anything with it - I bought the V8 purely just for fun. I love the feel of a 4000lb vehicle that can get the $%&* out of it's own way with the slightest touch of the gas pedal.
I have 2 kids seats in the back - has great room for it. Remember - I have a slight case of OCD, they might be kids, but they don't get to eat back there unless it's just a cracker or something that can be vacuumed up easily.
That's everything I can think of for now, I'll edit the post as I think of more.
