2009 camery 4cyl oil consumption

So my other car is consuming a ton of oil like 1qt every 1k miles. I have read that their is a know issue with the piston rings and that a TSB has been issued but I'm curious as to people who have had their issue resolved and what toyota is doing about it.

The word I've heard is that Toyota doesn't consider it a problem, until the oil usage reaches 1.1 qt burned per 600 miles.
