2014 Noisy Engine Idle

Brand new 2014 SR5 with only 4,000 miles.

I really like the vehicle, but one item that gives me a concern is how noisy the idle is. Its almost sounds like a diesel engine....sorta valve train noise. Its particularly noticeable when you are stopped at an intersection (in drive with brake on and the idle slows). The idling is smooth...noisy. Truck runs fine at street and highways speeds...engine is quiet and runs perfect at all rpms.

I have read other comments referencing older models that stated their 4.0 were noisy...but was wondering if other folks were hearing this same kind of noise with their newer models.

Thanks!

Any update to this?

I have a similar noise that I would describe the same way, on a 2016. To me it sounds like a hydraulic lifter or something. The only thing that makes it go away is to rev it past 1500-1700rpm but then other noises are probably drowning it out anyway. It doesn't go away after warming up and is most obvious in a drive-thru.
