2016 CO Expo Trip Report

Such an awesome trip! It was a real pleasure getting to expo with you guys! Dirtco EatonKyleH Volcom That was some awesome scenery for sure!

Hellz ya! Hope you bring that sweet sweet 16 Tacoma out next year! (Sweet 16.....build tread name dude. Chicks will dig it)

Wow, nice work! That looks like an awesome trip, and really good pictures!
Thanks for posting
I had a similar ambition a couple years back. Not nearly as isolated as you guys, but we had fun.
Our state is so rad for this kind of thing.

Thanks! Your trip looked awesome! I remember reading it before we had this one planned and really getting excited over the idea again.

YES!!!! I miss Colorado so much.

Where did ya move to? Colorado is indeed awesome. I sometimes think about moving from here but it would have to have so many similarities for me to make it work I might as well just stay haha.

Just blown away by these pics. Thanks for posting the map and GPS. Maybe next year I'll be able to attempt this.

Thanks Brian! No problem I was glad Jeremiah put that map together. It put things in perspective.
Do it! Honestly I'd do that whole route over again someday. You'd have a great time. A couple buddies in very mild builds would be good to go.

Awesome trip report! That copper colored 3rd gen is badass!

Thanks! And agreed with Brian. Dirtco 's 3rd gen is a work of art.

A couple questions.

What was your average speed on this route, and is this land national forest, private, etc?

I'm not sure what average speed was. Mostly 4WD low range speeds but we couldn't have done it any faster that's for sure. We had minimal issues and stoppages and drove 8-10ish hours per day and we were still constantly playing catch up with the original plan.

All the land is public in one form or another. I haven't really looked into what is in what boundaries but there are no permits required for any of it and you don't need to know anybody.

EatonKyleH Oh you know she will be out there next year for sure! Ready to put that crawl control to use! Sweet 16 is a killer build thread name! although I think she's gonna have to go over on TW not here..... DONE AND DONE

I am from Houston, Texas and moved to Granby, CO for an internship in 2008. In late 2008, i moved to Golden. In mid 2009 i moved back to Houston. Having graduated college and looking for a career in recreation, it was super hard back then as the economy had tanked. Rec jobs were first to go. Should have just taken "any" job and waited until things turned around.

Plenty of life left to live and opportunity to visit awaits!

Awesome trip! I lived in CO for 3 years and now live in MN. Heading back to visit in August and would love to tear off a junk of this expedition.

Once again Dirtco, you continue to impress /inspire. I would love to meet up with some folks and continue trip up through Montana to Canada. Or better yet Canada down. I live in Montana and I'm willing to work with all Toyota folks (and maybe a couple of jheeps with tow ropes.) Wth, no 4runner towing a jheep smilie?:noidea:
