I noticed when mine had 12,800 miles on it.

Im at 9800 miles.
The problem that I have is that it won't go into 4lo. Light indicates it is engaged however it does not engage.
Ill keep my eye out for the leak if anything happens I will post.

I haven't seen any leaks from '16 TE but like everyone else, I'll let you know if anything changes. I've only mine for a month have put just over 2,500 miles on it. You'll be hearing from me sooner than later.

Any 2017 TRD Off Road with the same problem?
Had an alignment today after my lift install yesterday and the tech (not at a yota dealership) claimed there was a very small weeping leak on my t-case. He said it was by the encoder motor shaft. We put it up in the air to look at it but all I can see (everywhere) is the fluid film I sprayed on for winter.
Really hoping theres not a leak and he mistook the fluid film as a leak but I'm going to clean off all the fluid film and keep an eye on that area to see what pops up.
2016 SR5 27k miles. Just installed a 5100s yesterday so I am kind of bummed I didn't catch it before if there is a leak - worried about them voiding warranty with the 5100s

I wonder if this problem was resolved on the 2018s. Anyone with a 2018 TRD Off-Road out there can you confirm this please. I am thinking of trading in my 2016 Trail Premium for a TRD Off-Road Premium thanks.

Transfer Case Leak at Front seal question...
Rather than creating a new thread, I thought I would post here. I’ve read several transfer case leak threads. There are different issues I guess. Some have seals leak and others have the gasket/rtv leak between the two castings. I just noticed the leak recently. I just turned over 40k miles on my 16 TEP.
The dealership confirmed the leak and stated it was the front seal. They ordered the parts and I’ll take it in next week to have the work done. Here is my question. The tech said when the front seal is leaking, transfer case fluid can get into the transmission and he recommended a transmission fluid flush at >$400... I argued that if that happens because of a defective part covered under warranty, that should be covered too. I made no progress with the tech or service writer. I’ll save the bickering for when I return. Is that possible though? I would think there is a corresponding seal on the transmission. In order for the TC fluid to get into tranny, wouldn’t the tranny seal be leaking as well? Thoughts appreciated!!
