2019 Headlights scratched??

I need some tips and suggestions please. I have a 2019 4runner, and just installed LED bulbs today. The bulbs look great, but they show me that my headlight housings are insanely scratched up on the outside.

Any good products I can use to try and help remove the scratches? Only thing I can imagine it’s from running it through the car wash at some point. I never noticed it with the halogen bulbs, but the LED’s are so bright, it’s very obvious.

Any headlight renewal kit from Amazon will work but whatever you do you must put a UV protectant clear coat back on to prevent yellowing/hazing. I use 3M headlight clear coat.

Yes the headlights have a clear coat to prevent hazing from UV rays. If you start sanding and polishing you will break down the clear coat and the lens will haze pretty fast. I would just leave the scratches. But if you must, I would spray it with Spraymax 2K clear coat after sanding & polishing.

If this was a 3,4,5 year old car then i would say go for it but it’s a new car. Don’t use an over the counter polishing kit, take it to the dealer and show them what’s up. They may replace they may not. But you can’t mess with it and then take it to the dealer they will absolutely deny responsibility.

Even if they do then I would take it to a reputable polishing/ detail shop. They can polish out the scratches and likely apply a ceramic coating to them to keep them like new.
