3.4L aluminum crankshaft pulley

use the same effort to spin a 22 lb wheel vs. a 8 lb wheel and see which one would spin longer? which one would strain more components to spin and which one would have an easier time to spin?

You are comparing a 22LB wheel vs a 8lb wheel, which is a 150% difference in mass.

You would need to compare, calculate, the entire rotating mass that is accelerated at the same time on the 3.4 liter engine before, and after the pulley installation, which include the pulley itself, the crankshaft, the flywheel, parts of the transmission, alternator, water pump, the driveshaft probably... all-in-all, it make a so small % difference that I don't see how one could justify the gains/effort+cost ratio

Actually the stock pulley weights 385% more than the lightweight one. 10lbs vs 2.8lbs.

Sure the engine should technically rev faster, but would be a little difficult to tell a difference since the pulley is such a small diameter.

also interested in this topic since i got a supercharger and would love to hear input on people who have run this. the URD claim makes me wonder...

Given the current CDN exchange rate and the additional landed costs, I put this on hold for a few. But, I would definitely like more user feedback.

I'm thinking I'll do this with a deckplate and an ISR and I'll be dusting Ford Raptors all day son.

In all seriousness, though... I concur that the cost/benefit ratio is nowhere close to worth it. Yes, it does work as advertised, there will be SOMETHING of a gain in HP. Will it be noticeable? Doubtful.

Your money is better spent on suspension mods or camping gear or taking your wife out to dinner. This is not a Honda Prelude, it's a mid-level family truck that is decent at offroading. Enjoy it as such IMO.

agreed.

I still really doubt that 7lbs compared to all of the rotating engine and drivetrain components would make any difference humanly perceptible while rolling, then add the small diameter of the pulley into the equation and you're probably better cleaning a few useless junk in your truck and get way better results.
