4.0 in 3rd Gen

Has anyone stuck a 4.0 and put it in a 3rd gen? Is it possible?

aaaanywho... i've pondered the 4.0 into a 3rd gen myself, just never heard anything about it. are they as reliable as the beloved 5vz?? i have to imagine it would be an easier swap due to it being similarly sized anyways. probably much cheaper to get ahold of as well, i would think. btw, my fantasy swap would be a 5.9 cummins lol.

TRD superchargers for the 5vz get you to about the same power levels as the 4.0

Seems that would be the easier/cheaper way to go.

I vote 4.7 V8 swap though!

Which 4.0? I'm assuming the 1GR. Another 4.0 swap would be the 1UZ. These are both very reliable engines when maintained.

Anything is possible with the necessary fabrication, mechanical, and electrical skills.

The other consideration is emissions compliance, depending on where you live.

I like the idea of the 5.7 V8 W/TRD supercharger.
