$4000 - 1997 Toyota 4Runner - Is This a Good Deal?

199,000 miles, runs great, white exterior, beige interior. Price $4,000

4Runner is in GREAT shape inside and out. Only issue seems to be a small hole in the muffler. Is 4K too much though for a 4Runner that has 200k miles?

If that's a clean title it's a good deal for sure. Theyre still going for $6K plus out here for that rig

If its rust free then yeah its a good deal. I paid $3000 for mine but it does have a couple very minor rust spots that need attention.

Thanks everyone for the input, I went ahead with the purchase It's got a couple of dents on the drivers side door but other than that it is super clean inside and out, also mechanically there doesn't seem to be any issues.

HOWEVER, the day after the purchase, I can no longer get the rear hatch open. When I was checking the 4Runner out at purchase it opened just fine. Now, the handle is just loose and the rear window won't go up or down with the key. The rer window will however go down by using the inside switch. Any ideas?

The release cable needs adjusted or the latch is full of dirt/gunk. Pull the inside trim off to get to the latch and cable (you'll have to do it from inside the truck with the door shut if you can't get it open). Pull the cable or work the latch to get it open. Once open you can remove the latch from the bottom with 2 bolts and spray it out with WD40. Make sure the cable is tight enough to pull the latch. Mine was jammed full of dirt and wouldn't open. I think this is a fairly common issue.

Funny you mentioned this, I looked at a '97 SR5 at a dealer last year, while I was looking at it the sales man had closed the hatch. I went to reopen it and the hatch wouldn't open. I told them if they would fix it, I would buy it. He said no, so I left.
