4Runner suspension problems, need help

Hi,

I have a problem with my 1998 4cyl stick 4Runner. It is a strange one. On certain roads (freeways) at certain places (flat, with some side to side pavement dips) at certain speeds (60mph+) the car starts swaying from side to side. This can get really bad, uncontrolable. Letting up on the gas stops it as does a downhill or uphill stretch. Driving on the freeways around LA is a real pain. The car has 200k miles and has been driven on many a dirt road. I suspect something is worn out in the suspension. It is NOT the shocks. I just put new ones on and the problem was unchanged.

Thanks for any help.

Problem fixed

The problem is fixed. Found a good mechanic (Tony) at City Toyota in Daly City (SF Bay Area). He found that a bushing on a brace (maybe not the right term) on the right rear (drive) wheel was bad. This allowed the wheel to wobble at high speeds.
