4wd actuator

My actuator is sticking on my 98 Limited, looks like they are out of stock everywhere. Has anyone tried a aftermarket or maybe remove, clean and reinstall? Thanks for any help!

I managed to free mine once using a hand vac. Similar to this one: https://www.harborfreight.com/brake-bleeder-and-vacuum-pump-kit-63391.html

Just pumped it a few times on each port, then put it in 4wd and drove around for a few minutes. It eventually clicked over.

My 1998 limited sticks as well. How I get mine out until i find a replacement. Is to shut the rig off. Then back on. Mostly it comes right out then. I am not sure why this works but it does and it may help you until you get your replacement.

agree with Brillo_76. I had one that was stiky too and thats what I had to do to get it out of 4wd

If it still actuates, just very slowly, make sure you exercise it as much as possible. The owners manual states that you should be engaging 4WD at least once a month... So getting it to actuate as often as possible might be enough - and its free!

I bought a 4 pack on amazon for my 2000 4runner and they were like $50 for all 4. I installed them all and they worked great
