'99 rear parking light not working; wiring question

Greetings all -

I have a '99 SR5 that has a rear parking light (left) that isn't working. The right is working fine; front parking lights working fine. Brake lights, reverse lights all work. Only the left parking light isn't working. I checked/replaced the bulb, and then checked (with a multimeter) to see if the plug was getting any power - it isn't. I tested the right to discover that the inside copper connectors were the live ones.

I looked up some wiring diagrams - it's the green wire that isn't getting any power (possibly.) I'm thinking of splicing into the right side green wire, and running a new wire across the trunk to get a live wire to the left bulb.

Thoughts? Anything else I should be trying?

You said something in a similar problem post that stuck out - one-sided problems are often related to the trailer wiring, or some such wisdom. Can you elaborate?

I swapped the relays in the engine between the tail lights and the fog lights (same relay) and the problem persists. I also checked the fuses, and all check out. I also noticed that the license plate lights are also out, and both the left tail light and the license plate lights seem to be on the same branch.

On an older 4runner I did have the trailer control go bad (aftermarket control unit) and I remember the trailer lights being all wonky. Replacing that control fixed the problem - this 4runner has the stock (or dealer installed) trailer setup. I haven't used it yet - might test that out next.
