As much as I hate to drive traffic to this idiot's site, I recommend taking a minute to blast him in the comments section for deriding Toyota's commitment continue development of the 4Runner's 5th generation.

Wow, imagine an automotive blogger jumping on the tired trend of SUV bashing. Seriously, is this the most creative content you could come up with today? There are plenty of 4Runner enthusiasts out there grateful that Toyota recognizes the niche for a true body on frame SUV who don't want to pull a trailer with a CUV or take a family of 5 on a road trip in a Prius or face a Chicago winter in a Versa. If you want to make a point about fuel economy, why not post an article about how the 4Runner is overdue for a diesel in the US.

ROFL I hate liberal, hippy, left wing, tree hugging people. I dont give a shit what they think. Whenever I'm next to a prius I like to rev my engine in neutral and floor it off the line.

Actually the article is more a reflection of the writer's myopic U.S.centric view of the world, not realizing that the 4Runner is sold in countries other than the U.S., and not realizing that other forms of the same vehicle are sold in countries other than the U.S.

Good point; I think the author's premise that Toyota is the new GM because they support models like the 4Runner is asinine.

Incidentally, This is a photo from the Chicago Tribune taken near my neighborhood today, and I'm definitely glad I have my truck to get around in.

I did considerable research when gas hit $4.50 for a vehicle that could tow 5k, offer AWD or 4WD and get better mileage.

Fact is, my 1999 gets better mileage then the 4th gen. The other manufacturer's models are not even close on weight/engine/capacity/mileage/features.

I expect to drive it for another 9 years.

In reading other entries, it's clear he/she does not know shite about vehicles and is suckering in the stupid people who need to read a blog to get educated.

When it is just my wife and I going somewhere with minimal stuff, we take the BMW (preferably with the top down ), it is a small 4 cyl and I can get 30MPG and have fun.

When I need to haul an bunch of people and/or stuff, I take the 4Runner.

All about having the right tool for the right job :bigok:

Both my cars get better MPG on the way to work than any Prius, because I take an electric train to get to work and leave the cars at home

After reading quite a bit of articles on that site, there is definitely a lot of bashing and bias toward Toyota. Anyway, I know why I bought a Yota and the ones that bash are just ignorant and have never experienced a real truck!
