Any interest in doing the Mojave Road?

I won't be able to make this trip until mid April so if anyone wants to do it sooner, please feel free. When I do go, I'm going to keep the size down to 6 so I don't have to obtain a permit. I'm also going to ask that everyone has 4WD.
 
Mid April will be pretty warm! Spent last Thursday all around the New York Mtns, mostly 5000 ft elevation and it was in the 60's. I think 4WD is the minimum requirement for a responsible group. Myself, I spend most of the time in 1st and 2nd gear, just taking it real easy, trying to see as much as possible. I'm guessing that's slower than most folks want to travel.
 
How nOOb friendly is a trip like this? I just got my '02 SR5 4x4 Sport Edition yesterday. I've done my share of motorcycle off roading but not too much 4x4 off roading. Taking trips like this is why I bought a T4R.

I just got back from a trip last weekend to the Mojave Desert with a group from Ultimate YOTA. The trip started in Valley Wells and proceeded north and then swung south then west, before exiting out at Afton Canyon. The group size was very small with only 5 vehicles and we covered ~190 miles in 3 days. Some of the guys from that group do an annual Mojave Road trip (I found the group after doing an internet search on "Mojave Road trips") and they thought this trip had much better scenery in it, even though the last little bit included the Mojave Road. We hit the following mines (Colosseum, Benson, Standard, Evening Star, Bonanza King, and Vulcan) and visited Hole in the Wall too. I'll post our pictures in a separate thread.

I've got a feeler thread for the last week of March and leaning more towards the MR than the other things I listed at this point. It's going to be during the week though and not eveyone can take the time off.

I never understood this. No matter how many people go, what's there to say just don't break them up in seperate groups of 7 or less even though we are all together? What if we happen to have run into each other out there? I just don't get it. You would think the more the merrier and safer too!

That's exactly what we did. We had a large group of 22 rigs but split up in smaller groups and only camped together at night. We even all stopped at a cabin together during the day and a ranger pulled up and asked if we were together. We said "Nope" and he said "Have a nice day".
