Any reason I shouldn't but a Baja Rack?

Before potential mega inflation hits, I decided I need to finish the truck and stop dicking around.

All in favor of the Baja rack let it be known, any who object...let me know why.

(Basically, let me know if the rack sucks it not)

Sherpa style for the win in my opinion. But some folks do prefer an actual basket.

That's a lot of dosh even Before shipping... seems to me it'd be smarter to have a local fabricator (if you're not setup for the task) to build you one custom. Last bespoke roof rack I bought was less than 2 years ago and was only $400. Smaller car, smaller job, but 100% custom too. That way there's no modifying it to hold those things you know will live up there (rotopax?, tire? jack?) after the fact, they're simply built in from the get-go.

Doesn't take much to bend and weld some tube, you'll probably get a far better rack for less money. But that's just my personal opinion. Don't know anything about that particular rack, good or bad.

Yeah I looked at the Sherpa, technically I'm still considering it... But yeah I like the idea of a basket better.

Why? I don't know, I guess I like the idea of side walls and the look.

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't personally get why all of this is so expensive... Haha.

I do like the idea of having something that will fit without fuss.

My wife put a Baja rack on her '96, it fits great, looks great, works great.

I put a Sherpa on my '99, same report - it fits great, looks great, works great.

I had a brief bit of worry that not having 'sides' would be a problem, but really those sides shouldn't be holding anything in, it needs to be strapped down securely either way. I've had no issues with stuff on the roof of my '99 even doing tough trails. I went full length with a light bar on mine, hers is the shorter style.

Just a matter of what style you like. Shorter and sleeker, or taller and more 'useful' looking.

I honestly can't say either one is quieter than the other. I think her shorter Baja Rack has an easier task - being further back and potentially out of some of the breeze, although it does stick up some? And my Sherpa is right up at the leading edge and has all those t-slot bars. But I really can't say that I notice noise at highway speeds from either one.

I've had some different racks (bike racks) in the past on other cars that have whistled or hummed at various speeds.
