Anyone have experience with HiBoost and WeBoost?

Looking to get a cell booster to install on my 5th gen for camping way off the road and helping to grasp any available reception in case of emergency. It looks like HiBoost is rated better than WeBoost and the internal antenna is supposedly better, but WeBoost is more the go-to brand.

Just seeing if anyone has experience with both, especially hiboost?

I have a garmin inreach for true emergencies if needed, but would like to be able to keep contact off the grid when needed.

So, I have the WeBoost Overland. Outdoor antenna at rear passenger side of vehicle, on the back corner of the Sherpa rack. Inside antenna stickied to the center console beside passenger seat. I seem to get reception in places where I don't usually, but if I check my reception dB with we boost on and off I see no change.

I will be getting in touch with them to see if something may be affecting performance (green light is on, and nothing obvious seems to be wrong) and doing more testing. It could very well be that the two antennas are getting some feedback from each other in their current positions.

I have had great luck with the Wilson Wireless products in the past on other vehicles, but this just doesn't seem to be at the same level.

I bought it based on reviews and actual tests that showed a definite boost in signal between on and off, so thinking there's an issue with my specific setup.

It could be that the phone is not close enough to the wireless antenna. I noticed with the weboost reviews that is a big thing. The hiboost supposedly has better signal for the internal antenna which if its true, makes it a selling point to me.

Yep, its fussy. less than 18" or more than 36" is not good.

I have a feeling I'm suffering from a somewhat common issue where the outer part of the cable stretches, effectively "pulling" the center copper wire into the cable and unable to make a connection. I'll be checking tonight though.

Honestly weBoost is the best of the bunch and we've tried them all. We also tried a new brand called Bolton...not bad...good antenna..more cb radio style

Another vote for WeBoost. I’m using the Drive Reach model, installed under the passenger seat, with the interior antenna on the front edge of the center console. Instead of the magnetic antenna I’ve got the Midland Ghost (3db) antenna mounted in the rear roof.

Having put my current phone in “service mode” I’ve checked and there is a substantial difference with booster on and off.

Living in the foothills of the Cascade mountains I see an actual difference in reception, clarify, and data.

got to try it out over the past week hunting. it made 1 barely if even usable bar into 2-3 usable bars. I do notice it is particular about distance from your phone to the internal antenna though.

Keep in mind, one bar is a significant improvement. It has to do with actual signal strength and not “appearance”.

Put phone in service mode, see the numbers. Do some research on signals and you’ll find out what I’m saying is correct.

I think you misinterpreted what I was saying. Which was meant to be exactly what you said. one unusable bar into 2-3 usable bars. To me its a huge improvement. but you need the phone within the correct range of the antenna.
