Better Gas Mileage for 2005 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition 4WD

I just got a 2005 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition 4WD. Great SUV. The previous owner put on a fuel saving chip, Aftermarket intake, Safari TSR tires(not going to get rid of even though that effects the gas mileage) and aftermarket exhaust. Its all time 4WD, which I know doesn't help. I get about 15 MPG. The thing still sucks up gas like no other though, so I was wondering what could I do to improve to improve the gas mileage besides driving habits.

FYI there's no emission laws in the state I'm in, but might eventually move to a state that does

On a different note does anyone know where I can find headers for this? The previous owner said he tried some but they didn't fit.

Thanks y'all

as far as i know, there are no headers for the 4th gen v8, one reason is the different fitment issues between the 03-05 & 06-09 years, so companies may think its just not cost effective to make different designs. the listed mpg between v6 vs v8 FT4WD mpg isnt that much, maybe 2, but different people net different results. imo, looks like anything that can be done already was. also chips are a waste of $ & unfortunately driving habits are the best way to get more mpg, sorry, not trying to sound like an jerk but good luck with both of those. on a positive note, other than individual opinions, the best way to find the answers might be to look through some of the older threads on them.

Yeah Chaz nailed it...you'll get the general idea by reading all the various threads about how to increase MPGs, but a few other points: run all synthetic fluids, check your air filter and tire pressure regularly, and drive everywhere 55-60 tops. haha kinda sucks doesn't it. makes me miss the days of $1.98/gallon

Cool thanks y'all the previous owner did everything it has including full synthetics. Will pump up the tire pressure. The only thing I think he didn't do was a throttle body spacer. I might just cut the cat back out and straight pipe it cause there's no emission laws in the state I live in. Now I know I can spend money on looks. Great SUV will always be a fan of Toyota now

Thanks yall
