bigger rear cylinders to match TBU ?

so in the youtube it says that this is (as stated above) , to compliment the TBU.
states that it increases the rear brake cylinders form 15/16 bore to 1 inch bore
the youtube lists a ACDelco part number, which I started to look up, and it lists the cars they are on, which includes the 4runner, maybe it was an optional cylinder size ?
the video shows AC Delco 18E263
looking that up there was 2 different wheel cylinders avail for 4runners with two different bores. Said 4wd 16 inch wheels took the 1 inch bore.
Also shows that was the only bore available on 2000-2006 tundras

I have a 2000 SR5 4wd 16 inch wheels.
from what I have read, my 4runner should already have the 1 inch bore, so this upgrade wont help me I guess but might help others with the smaller bore

maybe there was a difference in years ?
so is/was your 4runner( or my) 4runner a 15/16 bore ? Or 1 inch ?
will gong up 1/16 help the brakes ? make that much difference ?
If 15/16 and an optional 1 inch were available, how do you really know what is on yours/mine now ?
if there is a positive difference that does help in braking power?

all that said, many years back on a big dodge diesel, a rear cylinder upgrade was a help, but that was a 1/8 inch increase

anyway....just throwing that out there

I think you're trying to refer to "brake master cylinder" - They are all 1" bore on the 4runners.

nope..... rear wheel cylinder....video link to youtube that shows the guying switching out rear wheel cylinders for the bigger 1 inch over the 15/16


however there is a few threads talking about switching master cylinders to bigger ones to help with the extra fluid volume that the tundra brakes supposedly require. There is even kits out there to convert the Toyota master cylinder to a GM ACDelco master cylinder with a bigger bore

What was the 'bigger brakes' option on the Limiteds when they were new?

Was it a bigger bore master cylinder or thicker rotors?

The base models with 15” wheels had smaller pistons in the wheel cylinders (15/16”) and in the front calipers compared to the 16” wheel models. I upgraded mine to 1” wheel cylinders when doing the 199mm TBU.

I recommend Advics brand (basically Aisin) for wheel cylinders. I used part WCT-068

This. My V6 SR5 (originally 2WD) was also a 15" wheel truck and will be getting upgraded rear wheel cylinders when I do the front upgrade.
