Yep, I'm pretty sure I would have gotten over 100K miles on a set of OEM front pads and over 200K on the rotors if I hadn't changed them out. More from the rear of course. Quality is fantastic. My only complaint was that first squeal that they gave off.
When comparing the your vehicle to the same make/Model/generation...the determination factor for brake longevity is driving habits...and environmental factors....PERIOD.
How fast you drive and brake...what type of traffic (highway, stop and go)..drive a lot of hills?.....climate...etc...etc..
If YOU owned identical vehicles and alternated every day driving each truck...the brakes would be worn down the same with a + or - 1% margin of error. Can't really compare how long the brakes on your 4runner last to the brakes on mine since we don't have the same commute or driving style. 3-4 days a week I'm driving to and from work an hour each way on a highway cluttered with cars. Times with speeds up to almost 80..then at times where it's stop and go for miles. 50k miles is doing EXCELLENT on a commute like that.

Pad material also is a factor, cheop Semi-metallic pads will wear faster than quality ceramic pads, ect ect.

My 4th gen is my 3rd T4r and 6th Toyota. I tend to average over 100k miles on brakes, even on my T4R's that see frequent towing duty.
My '81 Celica had 150k miles with the original front brakes when I took it in for some other PM and TOLD; not asked: TOLD... the service manager to PUT front brakes on it. When I picked it up, they hadn't replaced the front brakes. I was pissed and had it out with the service manager. We were nose to nose yelling and he said "Your front brakes are fine and we will NOT do work that isn't necessary on ANYONE'S vehicle!" I was speechless and stunned. I told him "thank you for being that honest". I sold the car at 178,000 and those brakes were still fine.

Got 80k out of my Taco brakes from factory. Thats 80k of Boston/Boston Metro. I was NOT easy on that truck and it just took it. Would buy one in a minute if I needed a small truck....
When I do the brakes on the 4Runner I am likely going to go with some sort of upgrade to stave off warping rotors and excessive dust. I will have the wheels off tomorrow to assess the brakes.

us men heh. what can ya do. a woman can say anything she wants to me... a guy gets in my area and gives me a hard time and it's on. funny story yours. glad you got the mileage...thanks for the chuckle.:fish:
