I know OEM brake pads and rotors are probably the best, but are there any non OEM alternatives? Are Raybestos Advanced Technology pads and rotors any good?

Running the pads calipers and rotors love them work great haven't had a issue with them in 30,000 miles.
OEM pads for sure if you want to stop the car smoothly and quickly. Any aftermarket pads will need excessive force at the brake paddle to bring the truck to a complete stop at faster speeds. Factory ones are about $20-25 more than aftermarket, but you will enjoy worry free driving for years.
Buy rotors from an autoparts store.
I run factory brake pads on both my toyota's and so far not a single issue with calipers even at 255K miles!

I have Akebono pads with Bremsen Rotors on my Matrix and absolutely love them. Minimal brake dust, no squealing and so far the wear on them has been comparable to OEM (got 31K miles on them).
I'll probably be looking at those brands to compare with OEM pricing when the time comes for new brakes on the T4R.
Is there a particular rotor that you lean towards?

I think he means just standard rotor (Whatever brand they give you) from auto zone, advanced auto, o'reilly's, etc.

My '99 has 184k on it with factory parts throuout it's life. Brakes very well. Go OEM if you can afford it. Centric rotors are well regarded, just get a good warranty. Use Toyota pads for sure. And bed them in correctly. That's the other side of success in brake performance.

Um, aftermarket brake pads require excessive force to stop at high speeds? I use OEM brake parts, but I've used aftermarket countless times and never had to apply "excessive force to stop". If anything, my aftermarket pads stop just as well as OEM and do not turn my wheels black from dust.
Just my findings from experimenting with parts on two different 3rd gens. What I will say is that for the rear shoes, OEM is the one a prefer.

Wagner Thermo Quiet pads and rotors from these guys Brake Rotors Brake Discs Drilled Slotted Rotors. Ran them on everything from 8000lb diesels to Corvettes. No issues whatsoever. And the pads are lifetime warranty from O'reilly's so as long as they aren't down to the metal when you change them they'll warranty them. And no it's not shady doing that, they'll tell you that at the store.

What do you mean by get a good warranty. You get a good warranty when you buy centric rotors or as in get an extended warranty for them in case they go bad. Sorry to be so thick in the noggin.
