I just tried to put my Yakima Rocketbox on my 4runner (it was last used on my CRV before it was wrecked) and it doesn't fit!
The rear hatch hits the back. Now the total box will fit on my roof but the problem is the factory rails are set back far because of the sunroof. I don't want to have to sell this one and buy a smaller one.

If I put different rails on there, will the crossbars be too low and hit the sunroof when it opens?

how does it not hit your rear hatch spoiler? Are those towers higher? It looks like you have factory rails, at least for length.

Ha! That's my rig. The bars are higher than stock. But my box still hits the rear spoiler. I can open the rear hatch most of the way, but not all the way.

any idea if I could swap factory ones with these

then I can move the box forward to the sunroof. I just measured today and my factory crossbars are above the sunroof by a safe margin.

What kind of box do you have?

I built a steel subframe for mine to bolt to. Added benefits are I can mount it where ever I want and it has more bolts mounting the box to the frame so the box won't crack. I can carry my heavy toolbox in it now without worrying when it is going to break through and land on the roof.

are these mounting rails pretty universal with towers?

I also just thought..I have Yakima Q towers (the ones that attach to doorframes) from my CR-V. I could put one on the front by the sunroof. Then I'd have three potential crossbars. Unsure if this would legitimately work though. Plus I think I may need new Q clips.

When it says the limit is say 150 lbs is that per crossbar?
