Changing transmission fluid through dipstick

When I last changed the transmission fluid in my 98 4runner, I found the drain plug and pan threads were mangled. I have read that this is a somewhat common occurrence on these older trucks. Not wanting to change the pan, I chased the threads, coated the opening with FIPG and installed a new drain plug, being careful to snug it up without torquing it. It's been about a year with no leaks. I'd like to avoid disturbing the drain bolt at the next fluid change so thought abut using a fluid pump through the dipstick tube to remove the fluid. Has anyone done it this way? Will the pump tube get to the bottom of the pan or disturb something on the way down? For those of you that have removed the drain pan at some point, can you see where the dipstick come out? With the trouble most have even getting the dipstick back in after checking the fluid level, will the plastic tube on the pump even get past the bend in the dipstick tube? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't see any problem, in case if pump's hose passes the bend. The dipstick tip goes all the way to the pan bottom, so you should be able to pump out almost whole fluid out of there

It might work, but probably won't get all the fluid out, as there is a 90° bend at the bottom of the tube. Best bet is to replace the pan. It's a pain, but the correct fix.

Rethreading one size up with a heli coil kit would be a permanent fix.

I see 2 fixes... Rethreading the next size up or replacing the transmission pan.

Because you have to clean the magnets and change the filter as well.. I exchange the fluid out by using the transmission to pump the fluid out then at the same time. Pump new fluid in via the transmission fluid cooling lines. IF you do it this way. You need 3 to 4 gallons fluid. As these rigs hold around 3 gallons of fluid.

The spill and fill wont get it all and you can only get about 1 gallon at each time from the pan.
